I recently visited the South-South region, and I couldn’t help but notice that the Church’s leadership, across various factions, seems to be overlooking this area. For instance, the Celestial Church is predominantly established in the Southwest, leaving many in the South-South and South-East feeling neglected.
During my sermon there, I humbly challenged all the CCC Pastors to consider moving their base to the South-South or South-East for a year to focus on serious evangelism. I believe that if we invest more effort in these regions, we could not only uplift the local communities but also see an increase in oil revenue, which is vital for the economy.
The members of the Celestial Church in places like Bayelsa, Delta, and Abia need more than just occasional visits from regional or state evangelists; they need the support and encouragement of their pastors. It’s time for our leaders to step out of their comfort zones in the Southwest and truly engage with these communities.
Let’s be honest, Evang. Segun Glorious said the mission given to SBJO and the rest of us includes these regions. We can’t ignore them any longer. Many of our CCC Pastors across Nigeria have spent little to no time in these areas, focusing instead on the South West and abroad. This reality can create resentment toward those who speak out about it.
We see leaders like Pastor Adeboye and Pastor Kumuyi still actively holding crusades in various states, even in their 80s. The Celestial Church was never meant to be confined to just Ikorodu and Ibadan. It’s time for us to broaden our horizons and truly serve all regions of Nigeria.
