To those interviewing Mama Maggie Oshoffa, it’s time to step up and ask meaningful questions.
I may have my reservations about polygamy, but let’s be honest—SBJ Oshoffa’s marital life never interfered with the mission God gave him. Did God reject him because he had many wives? Not! This was a man who raised the dead in the name of Jesus, made the lame walk, cast out witches and wizards, delivered them, led them to Christ, and built a church that has now spread beyond measure.
Or do you think he was like the popular pastors, bishops, and apostles of today, staging miracles, faking testimonies, and demanding outrageous seed offerings for blessings? Unlike them, his miracles still have living witnesses.
Was he perfect? No. Maybe his many wives don’t sit well with you, but if God didn’t complain, who are we to? Is it his polygamy that made some of our so-called leaders turn the church into a business empire, selling the gift of God? Some of them can’t even preach sermons that touch the heart.
Instead of obsessing over how he got his wives, why not ask Mama Maggie about succession? She was one of his closest and most well-known wives, and she must have heard things that many have twisted today. Why not ask what happened after SBJO’s passing regarding the leadership crisis? Why not ask about the Baba Owodunni & Baba Banjo saga that tore the church apart? Why not ask about the Nigerian Diocese, kick-started by Baba Jesse? Why not ask where and how we got it all wrong? Why not ask about the events of September 1st – 10th, 1985?
But no, you’re asking if SBJ Oshoffa was given wives or if he wooed them? Seriously? This was a man never accused of adultery, never caught with another man’s wife—he married them. Meanwhile, some of you are blasting in tongues yet hating fellow believers over doctrinal differences. Some are using their bodies to fundraise in America and London just to build cathedrals and throw lavish Ikore feasts. In contrast, others rely on sugar mommies in the diaspora to sponsor crusades, yet they open their mouths to judge a man whom God never rejected(SBJ Oshoffa).
