Over 78 Years In, Still No Guide For CCC Clergy

A church that has existed for over 78 years carries deep history, tradition, and stories. But surprisingly, in this long-standing institution, there’s no known operational handbook or guidebook for the CCC Clergy. That raises serious questions about how things are run behind the scenes.

Without a clear guide, clergy are left to figure things out on their own. Each new clergy/shepherd may approach duties differently, leading to inconsistency. There’s no shared reference point for how services should be conducted, how conflicts are handled, or how pastoral care is delivered. That can create confusion, not just among the CCC Clergy, but also among the congregation.

The absence of a handbook means valuable lessons and practices are often passed down informally, if at all. If someone retires or leaves, their knowledge might be lost. New CCC Clergy must rely on word-of-mouth or guesswork. Over time, that can cause traditions to drift or disappear altogether.

Members of the congregation may notice the effects. Processes feel unclear. Communication may become inconsistent. Expectations shift depending on who’s in charge. That can chip away at the trust and unity that a church is meant to build.

In a time where transparency, structure, and clear communication matter more than ever, it’s worth asking—why hasn’t a guide been written? And what would it take to create one now?

Creating an essential handbook doesn’t need to be complicated. Start with roles, responsibilities, service formats, and decision-making processes. Build from there. It’s not about limiting creativity or doctrine—it’s about ensuring everyone, from clergy to congregation, is on the same page.

After 78 years, this church has already proven its staying power. But to keep moving forward, it might need something it’s never had before: a simple guide to keep the mission clear and the message consistent.
