Fake Prophet Arrested: CCC Task Force Cracks Down on Fraudulent Activities

According to the Celestial Reality Check (CRC) report, the CCC Task Force Worldwide has successfully apprehended a man accused of impersonating a prophet and engaging in various fraudulent activities within the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) community. This incident, which occurred on September 26, 2024, has caused significant concern among church members.

The suspect, identified as Hassan Mabifa, allegedly posed as Prophet Taiwo Matthew Nunayon, falsely claiming to be the Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Otito Parish. However, investigations revealed that he had no affiliation with the parish located in Ijanikin, nor was he related to the Nunayon family as he had claimed.CCC task force

The CCC Task Force Ogun State Chapter, working in collaboration with the CRC, tracked down and apprehended Mabifa following numerous complaints and allegations. The accusations against him include:

  1. Sexual assault of a 14-year-old at CCC ITUNU-OLUWA Parish in Akeredolu Lambe Akunte
  2. Theft of N100,000 from a parish shepherd’s wife’s account
  3. Stealing church property, including ceiling fans and speakers
  4. Identity theft and online fraud targeting CCC members
  5. Exploitation of individuals through a false prophetic ministryCCC task force

Family members of the accused expressed their dismay, revealing that Mabifa had scammed numerous relatives and abandoned his trade as a panel beater and spray painter to pursue his fraudulent activities. They reported that he often claimed to be older than his actual age to deceive older women for both romantic and spiritual exploitation.

Mabifa’s modus operandi reportedly involved creating fake social media profiles, manipulating relationships, and fabricating tragic stories to elicit sympathy and financial support from unsuspecting victims. In one instance, he allegedly used a young woman’s photos on his social media profiles, claiming she was his deceased wife to solicit funds for a non-existent funeral.

Currently, Mabifa is in the custody of VSE Karohunwi, Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Ona-Ara Parish, who has requested that the suspect not be immediately handed over to the police. A follow-up investigation meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at a location to be disclosed by the CCC Task Force Office.

This case marks the second arrest of an alleged fraudulent prophet by the CCC Task Force Ogun State Chapter in partnership with CRC within a week. The church authorities have issued a stern warning to potential scammers, emphasizing their commitment to rooting out such activities within the community.
